Our beautiful Dad died peacefully surrounded by his family on 6th December.
Beloved husband of Lorraine for 56 years. Adored Dad of Lynne and Joel, Trish and Paul, Michael and Marg, Jo and Matt, Nikki and Waz. A very proud and loved Grandad of his 17 grandchildren and their partners – Matt, Courtney, Adam and Josh; Claudia, Sam, Nic and Toby; Ella, Sinead and Ned; Paddy, Charles and Tom; Lachy, Zac and Emily, and Great-Grandad to Joey.
Love and gratitude to the amazing team at Anam Cara House Geelong for their care and support of our Dad and our family over the past few months.
Funeral notice
Requiem Mass for the repose of the soul of Mr. Paul Walter Mahoney will be offered at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Gellibrand Street, Colac on Friday, December 13, 2024 commencing at 1pm.
The Funeral will leave the Church at the conclusion of Mass for the Colac Lawn Cemetery.
For those who are unable to attend, click here to view the live-stream.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Anam Cara House Geelong. Envelopes will be available at the service.

He was gentle, kind and funny and my learning of professionalism and accounting principles from Paul and the other partners held me in good stead throughout my career. Fondest memories of this time. Paul was a devoted to his Lorraine and growing family at this time and always keen to improve his golf putting skills in the office if ever there was a quick break between clients. Paul Mahoney was a wonderful friend to Mathew and Denise Green and much loved by the entire Green family. He was a highly intelligent, kind and gentle man who did a lot of good in the community. He was a very committed family man, who was always humble and had time for others.
A great accountant and advisor who assisted and guided many many people over the years. He was extremely committed to his work, and his clients, and set a very strong work ethic for all others to follow.
He played a significant role in the Accounting firm of Larkin, Gilbert and Mahoney and it becoming the firm it became in Colac.
I could not have asked for a better business partner, mentor, neighbour and friend.
I will miss our chats and catchups.

The sad news of Paul's death takes us back to the amazing little community of families that lived at the bottom end of John Crescent in the 1970s. The Mahoneys in No 8. Over the years that have followed, qualities that earmarked Paul as one of life's most decent and honourable of men never left him. His commitment to the well-being of his family, the care for his friends and his clients, and the contributions he made in often unheralded ways to the community of Colac are part of his legacy. He was an honest man you could trust. He was a good man with a noble heart. He was a gentleman and a gentle-man. It was clear in talking to him over recent times that the deep wound within his heart following the death of Lorraine was hard to carry. But he was ever so grateful for the love of his family who upheld him and enabled him to live again, knowing that in their midst he was deeply loved and treasured. He was so deeply proud and appreciative of all that his family was doing for him. To Lynne, Trish, Michael, Jo, and Nikki we feel for you in your time of real sadness and loss. I am also aware of the amazing legacy both your Mum and Dad have left as an inspiration and a guiding light. Paul is now freed from that earthly tent of a body that will no longer work. I see him searching now for that eternal heartbeat of the one who captured his heart and his soul so many years ago and enchanted his life with a love beyond all telling. I am in no doubt when they find each other their hearts will once again be in sync and they will be as one again and their story of life and love yet another beacon, another star in the night sky shining for all to see. May Paul rest ever so peacefully and rise into what is yet to come, knowing that all he ever believed, is true…
